The Story Behind the Design
A new home can have a story from the beginning. A home becomes more personal when the pieces within it have meaning — whether they are new, restored, collected or already part of the client’s story.
The Story
A second home in Madrid for a family from Central America. The apartment was in its original condition and underwent a complete renovation designed and led by FL-ARE. I collaborated with the studio throughout the project, focusing primarily on furnishing, sourcing and styling.
The clients wanted their new home to feel personal and layered, rather than newly furnished all at once. We started with a few antique artworks and objects they already owned, then combined new furniture with carefully sourced mid-century, vintage and antique pieces. Some were restored or reupholstered so they could blend naturally with the new pieces.
The Outcome
The result is a home where old and new, classical and contemporary come together naturally — an interior with its own character and a story that feels connected to the people who live there.
